Podcasts are amazing….

The use of technology has made it possible for me to hear current and old educational discussions on dance. This particular podcast talks of dance and the diaspora. Initially I thought of my own diaspora………..Jamaica, yes my family is Jamaican, but in a mega city like London one comes into contact with many different streams of diaspora.

The notion that dance of the diaspora is just folk dance is not true. I love the direct link made with “The Rite of Spring” and how the strength of the Ballet Russe was in its diasporic links with classical music and Russia’s folk history.
